TRB will conduct a webinar on Tuesday, September 12, 2017, from 2:00PM to 3:30PM ET that features research from the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP)’s Report 173: Use and Potential Impacts of AFFF Containing PFASs at Airports.
This webinar will examine aqueous film-forming foams (AFFF), which have been used by the aviation industry for decades for training and for extinguishing fires at airports. AFFF formulations include per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) that may have potential health and environmental impacts. The webinar will discuss the best practices for managing AFFF and for addressing legacy environmental impacts. This webinar will also describe the Managing AFFF and PFAS at Airports (MAPA) Screening Tool developed to help airport representatives identify and manage areas of potential environmental concern related to AFFF and PFASs in the environment.
