TRB will conduct a webinar on Thursday, March 22, 2018 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that features research from the National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s Research Report 863: Material Properties of Cold In-Place Recycled and Full-Depth Reclamation Asphalt Concrete.

Pavement recycling techniques are effective for rehabilitating existing pavements or constructing new pavements while reducing construction costs, environmental impacts, and construction time. This webinar will describe procedures to determine material properties of different cold-recycled asphalt mixtures for pavement design. Presenters will focus on cold in-place recycling, cold central-plant recycling, and full-depth reclamation asphalt mixtures. They will determine typical values of dynamic modulus and repeated load permanent deformation (RLPD) structural properties for mechanistic-empirical pavement design using the AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design software.

The first 60 minutes of the webinar will be for presentations and the final 30 minutes will be reserved for audience questions. The Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP) categorizes this webinar activity as relating to health, safety, and welfare including core technical.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the applicability of dynamic modulus and RLPD testing for asphalt stabilized cold in-place recycled materials
  • Describe the range of structural property values for cold in-place recycled materials
  • List the effects of additives on cold in-place material properties
  • Understand the performance of cold in-place materials as predicted by AASHTOWare Pavement ME Design software

A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate. Certificates of Completion will be issued only to individuals who register for and attend the entire webinar session.

Individuals registered as Florida PEs are no longer required to email TRB with your license number to report your attendance. Instead, please use your certificate that TRB provides through as verification of your attendance to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
