TRB will conduct a webinar on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that features research from the Airport Cooperative Research Program (ACRP) Research Report 191: A Primer to Prepare for the Connected Airport and the Internet of Things.
The Internet of Things (IoT), as defined by the International Telecommunications Union, is “a global infrastructure for the information society, enabling advanced services by interconnecting (physical and virtual) things based on existing and evolving interoperable information and communication technologies” (i.e., connecting devices together in new ways through the Internet). IoT may generate new customer-serving and revenue-generating opportunities at airports, optimize airport operations, and create efficiencies that could impact various stakeholders. This webinar will explain these potential benefits, describe the barriers and limitations to IoT implementation and how they may be overcome, and provide an understanding of current practices and lessons learned.
This webinar is sponsored by the Airport Cooperative Research Program. There is no fee to attend this webinar; however, sign into MyTRB.org to view registration information.
