Transportation agencies constantly make trade-off decisions related to asset types, priorities, investment needs, and risk. TRB hosted a webinar on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 2:00-3:30 PM Eastern that discussed the basic principles of maintenance planning of road infrastructure assets. An international panel of presenters explained how they have leveraged the Life-Cycle Planning framework and Maintenance Management Systems to support trade-off decisions using a data-informed approach. These systems integrate with GIS, prepopulate the work plan with physical assets, and optimize maintenance expenditure and renewal treatments to provide the target performance levels within a budget. Presenters discussed forthcoming tools, which will streamline the process even more.

This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Technical Committee on Maintenance Management Systems.

The slides and recording are available.
