Details

America’s inland river system is a point of pride; however, past policies funding maintenance based upon level of service has an adverse impact on waterways’ economic development. TRB is hosting a webinar on Wednesday, December 15, 2021 from 2:00 to 2:30 PM Eastern that will examine economic opportunity zones as well as river freight vulnerabilities. The session will also focus on resilience analysis related to a petroleum supply chain on the Cumberland/Tennessee River. Presenters will cover potential strategies to mediate impacts, improve recovery, and identify alternative responses.

This webinar is sponsored by the TRB Standing Technical Committees on Inland Water Transportation and Transportation Energy.

The slides and recording are available.

Webinar agenda and presenters:

  1. Standard levels of service and opportunity zone options and impacts: Sara Walfoort, SW Pennsylvania Commission
  2. Ensuring supply chain continuation despite disruption in the Cumberland/Tennessee River: Janie Camp, Vanderbilt University
  3. Question and answer session: Moderated by Libby Ogard, Prime Focus LLC

The first 60 minutes of the webinar will be for presentations and the final 30 minutes will be reserved for audience questions.
