Stabilization additives are used to increase the strength and stiffness of road foundations in weak and susceptible soils. Numerous additives exist for improving performance of aggregate base and subgrade layers. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Eastern that explored examples and case studies using conventional and nonconventional additives. Presenters discussed non-proprietary additives that are commonly used and alternative proprietary additives that are garnering new interest. Presenters also shared compaction methods to improve pavement foundation layers.
This webinar is a follow on to the TRB Annual Meeting Workshop: Performance of Stabilized Pavement Foundations With Conventional and Unconventional Stabilizers held on Friday, January 22, 2021.
This webinar was sponsored by the TRB Standing Technical Committees on Stabilization of Geomaterials and Recycled Materials, Transportation Earthworks, and Geotechnical Instrumentation and Modeling.
The slides are available. Please contact trbwebinar@nas.edu for a link to the recording. There may be a $90 fee.
