TRB conducted a webinar on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 2:00 to 3:30 PM ET that featured research from
National Cooperative Highway Research Program (NCHRP)’s
Web-Only Document 221: Protection of Transportation Infrastructure from Cyber Attacks: A Primer.
This webinar focused on fundamental strategic, management, and planning activities associated with highway transportation control systems’ cyber security. The presenters summarized information that is intended to narrow the gap between cybersecurity specialists and highway transportation operations managers. They provided context regarding highway transportation critical systems, security vulnerabilities of typical highway transportation control systems, and effective cyber security practices.

Learning Objectives
At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:
- Identify common cyber vulnerabilities of highway transportation infrastructure, including those pertaining to various operations systems used in their organizations
- Assess whether their Continuity of Government and Disaster Management Plans include cyber risks
- Recognize whether there are sufficient resources and training in place to monitor, identify intrusions, take effective countermeasures, and recover from serious cyber incidences
- Use the reference materials to develop more mature governance approaches

Professional Development Hour Information
A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups,
only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate.
Individuals registered as Florida PEs are no longer required to email TRB with your license number to report your attendance. Instead, please use your certificate that TRB provides through RCEP.net as verification of your attendance to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.
Please check with your licensing board to ensure that TRB webinar PDHs are approved by your board.
