Is ferry electrification a means to help support private ferry operations? Fuel is one of the greatest operational costs, leaving some private ferry companies struggling to survive. TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, May 9, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Eastern that explored ferry electrification programs and installations in Greece, Maine, and North Carolina and featured three case studies on the benefits and challenges of ferry electrification as a means to improve the environmental footprints and cost of operation. Presenters shared about implementation and essential components, funding sources, and recommendations for public engagement.
