Pavement preservation is a means of maintaining and improving the functional condition of an existing highway system, generally leading to improved pavement performance and longer service life. There are, however, considerable variations among states regrading specifications for construction of chip seals, microsurfacing, and fog seals. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 from 1:00-3:00 Eastern that presented the findings from a study and resulting construction guide specifications of these items. Presenters discussed ways to use the guide to serve as complete construction specifications or fill gaps in existing construction specifications. These construction guides have been approved by AASHSTO Committee on Materials and Pavements (COMP).
This webinar was sponsored by the Technical Standing Committee on Pavement Preservation.
