Transportation impacts the health and well-being of individuals and communities by providing access to work, healthcare, shopping, and other services or opportunities. Transportation mode choice can affect human health and environmental sustainability. For example, biking or walking to a transit stop increases physical activity and reduces emissions. TRB hosted a webinar on Thursday, November 9, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM Eastern that discussed evidence concerning the effects of bus transit on human and environmental health, efforts to increase bus transit access, and approaches to increasing transit equity. Presenters shared how the transit system can be improved and enhanced to promote the betterment of communities.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s Standing Technical Committee on Transportation and Public Health.

The slides are available. Please contact trbwebinar@nas.edu for a link to the recording. There may be a $90 fee.
