Rural communities face unique challenges in providing connectivity and access to essential goods and services, including jobs, education, health care, and social services. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, November 19, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that presented guidance for defining and addressing these challenges. Presenters investigated the drivers behind these challenges, such as limited funding, staff capacity, and stakeholder engagement as well as strategies for addressing them. Presenters also talked attendees through the Guide, Decision Support Tools, and Implementation Plan accompanying NCHRP Research Report 1059: Access to Jobs, Economic Opportunities, and Education in Rural Areas.
This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s National Cooperative Highway Research Program.
