Cone Penetration Test (CPT) is a technology that can be used for design of foundation supporting various types of transportation structures including highway bridges. The CPT approach and its direct use can offer a far more efficient methodology in design and potential savings in resources compared to conventional methods. In June 2020, TRB recorded presentations about how CPT can be used in the US and Europe.
