TRB will conduct a webinar on Monday, November 19, 2018, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM ET that will discuss available methods for measuring moisture infiltration into pavements. Presenters will describe a universal method for measuring water infiltration into multiple types of in-place asphalt pavement surfaces. They will also discuss novel materials, design, and/or construction practices that may minimize moisture infiltration into pavements.

This webinar was organized by the TRB Standing Committee on Surface Requirements of Asphalt Mixtures.

Webinar Outline

  1. Performance characteristics of pavement surface treatments including smoothness, skid resistance, and moisture infiltration minimization
  2. Overview of moisture infiltration and corresponding effects on pavement performance
  3. Available methods for measuring water infiltration into pavements
  4. Work with the Mississippi Permeameter (MSP) including its development, successful uses, limitations, and anticipated future developments
  5. Innovative materials, design, and/or construction practices for moisture infiltration minimization
  6. Question and answer session

The first 60 minutes of the webinar will be for presentations and the final 30 minutes will be reserved for audience questions.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this webinar, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss key surface treatment performance parameters
  • Describe the MSP and its potential usefulness
  • Identify innovative materials, design and/or construction practices that lead to adequate moisture infiltration control

Professional Development Hour Information

A certificate for 1.5 Professional Development Hours (PDHs) will be provided to Professional Engineers (PEs) who register and attend the webinar as an individual. For groups, only the person that registers and attends the session will receive a PDH certificate. Certificates of Completion will be issued only to individuals who register for and attend the entire webinar session.

Individuals registered as Florida PEs are no longer required to email TRB with your license number to report your attendance. Instead, please use your certificate that TRB provides through RCEP.net as verification of your attendance to the Florida Board of Professional Engineers.

Please check with your licensing board to ensure that TRB webinar PDHs are approved by your board.
