Utilities can cause delays to transportation projects. Proper and timely implementation of subsurface utility engineering (SUE) can assist in reducing those delays. TRB hosted a webinar on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM Eastern that explored state department of transportation (DOT) practices for SUE and highlight findings from a recent synthesis study. Presenters also shared the newly revised American Society of Civil Engineers standard guideline for investigating and documenting existing utilities (ASCE 38).

This webinar is based on NCHRP Synthesis Report 583: Implementation of Subsurface Utility Engineering for Highway Design and Construction.

This webinar was sponsored by TRB’s National Highway Cooperative Research Program and the Standing Technical Committee on Utilities.

The slides and recording are available.
