New truck abilities and the associated loads will impact flexible and rigid pavements, making them an important consideration for owner agencies. TRB will host a webinar on Monday, November 25, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that will facilitate proactive considerations to changes in pavement loading due to advancements in truck technology. These advancements impact current pavement design methods for durable and resilient pavements in the future.
This webinar is the first of a two-part series that will explore potential advancements in truck technology such as electric trucks, truck platooning, CAVs, and their impacts on pavement performance, design methods, and maintenance. The second webinar, Anticipated Truck Loadings in Pavement Design—Part II, will be held in December 2024.
This webinar is sponsored by TRB’s Standing Technical Committees on Asphalt Pavement Design and Rehabilitation and Concrete Pavement Design and Rehabilitation and the Subcommittee on Truck Size & Weight.
Registration is free for employees of TRB sponsors as well as Titanium and Cobalt Global Affiliates. The registration rate for all other attendees is $100. Sign into MyTRB.org to view registration information. Contact Patrice Davenport to inquire about becoming a TRB sponsor or global affiliate organization.
A recording will be sent to all registrants after the webinar.

Webinar agenda and presenters

  • Agency planning for anticipated truck loadings – Gina Ahlstrom, FHWA
  • Alternative-fueled trucks – Dan Murray, American Transportation Research Institute
  • Modeling and design requirement impacts of e-truck technologies on flexible pavements – Imad Al-Qadi, University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign
