State departments of transportation (DOTs) are facing accelerating workforce turnover, growing complexity, and persistent resource constraints, making knowledge management essential to preserving institutional knowledge and strengthening organizational performance. TRB hosted a webinar on Wednesday, July 22, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM Eastern that presented key findings from NCHRP Project 20-44(45) Supporting State DOT Adoption of Knowledge Management Practices. Presenters shared practical insights from leading state DOTs on how agencies can launch, scale, and sustain knowledge management initiatives. Presenters also highlighted strategies for knowledge retention, collaboration, and decision-making, including communities of practice, knowledge capture, and expertise sharing.
