Accurate construction engineering and inspection (CEI) ensures the quality, safety, and long-term performance of bridge infrastructure. Workforce turnover and increasingly complex projects make effective training programs critical to preparing inspectors to perform their roles consistently and effectively. TRB hosted a webinar on Friday, September 18, 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM Eastern that examined current CEI training practices used by departments of transportation (DOTs), contractors, and consultants, and explored challenges that affect workforce readiness, consistency, and performance. Presenters highlighted priority training topics and recommended strategies for developing, enhancing, and implementing effective training programs across the transportation industry.
